Biography
Libby Feez has been working in the media industry for approx 22
years. working her way up as a driver for news crews to producer
and directing programs for television and for government organisations.
For the most part, Libby worked for ABC Television and then when
ABC began developing their first websites, Libby transferred her
skills across to incorporate the 3 media techniques, Television,
Radio and Online.
Libby's last work for ABC was as Online Content Producer and writer
for the Indigenous Gateway Message Stick and the Religion and
Ethics Gateway. Libby started her professional career with the
ABC as a driver for TV News. She often noted that the advantage
of being a driver was that she didn't have to make the coffee!
(And she got all the best gossip!) She moved on to be a director's
assistant. Then she started working as a researcher. She finally
got her break as a TV producer and director working for the ABC's
Religious Unit.
Some of the programs Libby worked on in her 18 years at the ABC
were News & Current Affairs, The Factory
for Arts and Entertainment, Opera and Live Music concerts, The
Racket and Rage. Documentaries included, Ladies
in Line, Baby Boomers, Strike Me Lucky,
Fans, In Search of Dr Mabuse, 2 part Doco Drama
on Forensic Science; to name but a few. Libby went on to work
on familiar shows like Quantum, A Question of Survival,
Investigators, two Sydney Mardi Gras, Blackout,
Compass, Songlines, A Festival of The Dreaming
and finally Message Stick.
In 1999 she came to New Media. Libby built the Race around
the Corner site and worked on initial concepts and designs
that lead to the development of "The
Playground" for ABC kids before being assigned to Message
Stick and the Religion
and Ethics gateways.
Libby lead a major overhaul of the Message Stick site. Her contributions
include a series of "firsts" including the development
of an online
protocol guide for all Australian media dealing with Indigenous
communities and issues - a ground breaking initiative both domestically
and internationally; live web coverage of "Yeprerrenya"
a cultural festival in Central Australia, as well as producing
Australia's first Indigenous children's site "Message
Club".
Libby also mentored and assisted many people within and outside
the ABC. Her enthusiasm and problem solving skills have always
been partnered with a willingness to share her knowledge and contacts
freely. She'll be sorely missed.
Libby is now living in the Mid North Coast of NSW and thinking
that there was no chance of following her career in the regional
area, has discovered that there is still a role for her to make
regional and community media productions, as well as act as a
mentor and trainer for those wishing to learn more about the business.
Recently, Libby has produced and directed in partnership with
Brian Semple from Cross The Line Video Productions productions
for the Departure of Education and Training NSW (DET),
Board of Community Adult Education NSW (BACE) , Board
of Aboriginal Studies, NSW, Department of Science, Education
and Training (DEST), Department of Mining Tourism and
Resources, (DMTR), Coffs
